About me
Gene Pao was named EVP Strategy and Digital in 2021 and currently oversees strategy, production, marketing and product management, business development, and Shout’s digital streaming services. Previously, Gene was SVP of Digital Enterprises where he successfully led Shout!'s expansion into digital content distribution by brokering key relationships with Tubi, Pluto TV, Amazon, Roku, and others, as well as building Shout! TV, the company's digital streaming service. Gene launched Shout’s first FAST channels in 2015, and the company now has 16 FAST channels including the Shout! TV, Wild West TV, the Mystery Science Theater 3000 channel, and The Carol Burnett Show channel with more to come. Shout was among the first to provide FAST channels to all the leading platforms such as Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, The Roku Channel, IMDb TV (now part of Amazon Prime), Sling TV, and VIZIO.
Gene’s 20+ year career in media and entertainment includes working at Disney/ESPN, Fox Interactive Media, FUEL TV, Golf Channel, the NBC show The Biggest Loser, the digital incubator idealab!, and the digital marketing agency Digitas, as well as engagements with YouTube and Sony. Throughout his career, Gene has been at the intersection of film, television, live sports, news, and digital video streaming. Gene holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master’s from Cornell University, and a BS from North Carolina State University.
