About me
Sylvia George is EVP of Media and Audience Strategy for AMC Networks where she leads the media strategy and planning, growth marketing, retention and consumer engagement efforts across the AMC Networks brands with a focus on growing streaming subscription services including AMC+, Acorn TV, Shudder, Sundance Now, ALLBLK and HIDIVE.
George is a celebrated leader across the entertainment industry, known for her creative and analytical approach to growing audiences for targeted streaming services. Before leading Performance Marketing, George formerly served as the General Manager of UMC (now “ALLBLK”), a streaming service developed by BET’s Bob Johnson at RLJ Entertainment and the first on the market to target Black audiences and celebrate Black film and television. From 2018 through 2020, during her tenure as General Manager, George oversaw triple digit growth in subscriptions for the service during its acquisition by AMC Networks.
George also served as RLJ Entertainment’s first Chief Marketing Officer from January 2017 to March 2018 after serving as President, US managing North American distribution for four years and spearheading the integration of Acorn Media and Image Entertainment, which were acquired by RLJ Entertainment in October 2012. In this role, George helped to build Acorn’s brand profile as the “chief curator of the best Brit TV” (TIME Magazine) and grew the brand’s footprint across retail while developing a growing business in the streaming and digital home video markets.
